(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/19/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the passage of a resolution by Maine’s Lewiston City Council condemning white supremacy following a march targeting Somali immigrants held in the city by a neo-Nazi group.
Lewiston’s city council passed a resolution last night that condemned white supremacy “and all others who seek to spread hatred, dehumanize our residents, and intimidate and threaten our community” following a march that was held by a neo-Nazi group earlier this month. Attendees of the march held signs targeting members of the Somali community.
