(BOSTON, MA, 10/31/2022) – The Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MA), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the attempted intimidation of migrants housed at a Kingston, Mass., hotel on Sunday by a neo-Nazi white supremacist group.
Kingston police reported that a group of masked men gathered outside the hotel to protest the sheltering there of some 100 men, women and children — many of them migrants — by a state agency last week. The protesters displayed a sign reading “refugees not welcome” and shouted anti-refugee rhetoric. Video sent shows the protesters with a banner identifying themselves as members of the Nationalist Social Club 131. Police ordered the hate group to leave the hotel property.

“It is unconscionable that bigots would target vulnerable individuals and families at a time when they are in desperate need of community support,” saidCAIR-Massachusetts Executive Director Tahirah Amatul-Wadud. “This troubling incident is further evidence of the necessity for all Americans to push back against the rising level of xenophobia, racism and bigotry in our society.”
She said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
