(DENVER, CO, 1/10/2022) – The Colorado chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CO), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the dismissal of a Denver fire lieutenant who reportedly made racist comments to coworkers.
The lieutenant allegedly made other firefighters uncomfortable by making racist and antisemitic to them. The lieutenant claimed the comments were made as jokes and is reportedly attempting to fight his termination in court.

“Any individual who makes comments like those this lieutenant reportedly made cannot be trusted to serve all community members equally as a firefighter,” said CAIR-CO Board Chair Krista Cole.
He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
