The California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA) today thanked all those who organized and participated in the Sacramento Unity Eid, the largest Muslim gathering in that state’s history.
In an unprecedented gathering, over 40,000 individuals (about twice the seating capacity of Madison Square Garden) participated in the Sacramento Unity Eid, marking it as the largest Muslim gathering in California’s history. The event was held this past Wednesday at the Cal Expo.
“We are deeply thankful to the mosques, organizations, and countless volunteers who made this historic gathering possible, said Basim Elkarra, Executive Director of CAIR Sacramento Valley/Central California.
He said the unprecedented turnout not only celebrates our unity but also compels us to reevaluate the estimated number of Muslims in California, reflecting our growing community and its vibrant diversity.”
