CAIR Condemns Israeli Massacre of Refugees at Gaza Hospital

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the massacre of refugees sheltering at a hospital in the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza.

Israeli forces reportedly bombed tents sheltering displaced people in the courtyard of the Al-Yemen Al-Saeed hospital in Jabalia, killing at least 15. Dozens have reportedly been killed in Israel’s attack on the Jabalia refugee camp so far. The offensive has also reportedly left at least 400,000 people trapped in the area.

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:

“We strongly condemn the Israeli government’s horrific attack on Jabalia Hospital. The cowardly war criminals of the Israeli military have repeatedly slaughtered civilians as they seek safety in or near hospitals and schools. These atrocities cannot be allowed to continue. The Biden administration, which has enabled and materially supported these crimes against humanity, must change course and use American leverage to force a ceasefire on Netanyahu. The Israeli government must stop and be held to account for this genocide.”

Awad added that yesterday CAIR demanded that the Biden administration stop Israel’s genocidal plans for an Israeli “extermination zone” in northern Gaza in which every remaining human being would be starved to death or killed by U.S. weapons.

He noted that earlier today, CAIR condemned the Israeli government’s closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied West Bank city of Al-Khalil (Hebron) to allow illegal Israeli settlers to celebrate Jewish holidays.
