The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the reported freeze on the delivery of bulldozers to Israel as an “implicit admission” by the Biden administration that the far-right Netanyahu government is using that equipment in the ethnic cleansing of Gaza.
CAIR said the freeze on the bulldozers used in ethnic cleansing must be followed with an end to weapons deliveries to Israel.
[NOTE: An editorial in the Israeli media outlet Haaretz today admitted that the “Israeli military is conducting an ethnic cleansing operation in the northern Gaza Strip.”]
According to Israeli media, the delivery of 130 D9 bulldozers to Israel was reportedly frozen because of use of the bulldozers to demolish homes in Gaza and Lebanon.
Israel has already killed more than 43,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children. Just today, Israel slaughtered at least 46 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children. Israel killed least 53 people across Lebanon on Saturday, rising the death toll to 3,186.
The far-right Netanyahu government has systematically laid waste to residential areas and the civilian infrastructure in Gaza. Almost all Gaza civilians have been forcibly expelled from their homes and placed under a campaign of forced starvation.
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“By freezing the delivery of bulldozers to Israel, the Biden administration is clearly admitting that the far-right Israeli government is engaged in the war crime of ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Despite this implicit recognition that Israel is committing war crimes, President Biden steadfastly refuses to stop sending taxpayer-funded weapons to the far-right Netanyahu that uses American bombs to kill civilians and destroy homes, hospitals, mosques, churches, UN facilities, schools, and civilian infrastructure in Gaza. The complicity of the Biden administration with Israel’s genocide must end. All weapons deliveries to Israel must be stopped immediately.”
Awad said CAIR has previously condemned the flattening of whole areas of Gaza, including homes and mosques, by civilian contractors using bulldozers. CAIR also condemned the mutilation of a Palestinian child’s body by an Israeli bulldozer and use of bulldozers to desecrate of Palestinians bodies.
He noted that CAIR has repeatedly called on the Biden administration to stop Israel’s extermination campaign in northern Gaza.
Yesterday, CAIR supported a call by the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) for the far-right Israeli government to stop its “systematic attack on journalists and media infrastructure” designed to “prevent the world from seeing what Israel is doing” in its extermination campaign in northern Gaza.
Last week, CAIR questioned the Biden administration’s inaction after the far-right Israeli government reportedly confirmed its ethnic cleansing of northern Gaza.

Yesterday, CAIR said the Biden administration must end its complicity with the Israeli government’s genocide against Palestinians after a UN report said 70 percent of the dead in Gaza are women and children.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
