BREAKING: CAIR Calls for Removal of US Holocaust Memorial Council Member Who Claims All Palestinians in Gaza are Unworthy ‘of Any Mercy,’ are ‘Collectively Guilty’ and ‘Fundamentally Evil’

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called for the removal of a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council (Board of Trustees), Martin Oliner, who reportedly claims all Palestinians in Gaza are not worthy of “any mercy” and that the “people of Gaza are collectively guilty” and ‘fundamentally evil.”

[NOTE: “The United States Holocaust Memorial Council was established by Congress in 1980 to lead the nation in commemorating the Holocaust and to raise private funds for and build the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.]

In an editorial in The Jerusalem Post, Oliner, who is also chairman of Religious Zionists of America, president of the Culture for Peace Institute and a committee member of the Jewish Agency, referred to “those like myself who do not believe Gazans are worthy of any mercy.” He also stated: “LET’S NOT mince words here. The people of Gaza are collectively guiltyThey are fundamentally evil, and they must pay a price for their actions.”

In a statement, CAIR said:

“We strongly condemn pro-Israel activist and U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council board member Martin Oliner for reportedly declaring every single man, woman and child in Gaza ‘fundamentally evil’ and ‘collectively guilty’ people who are not ‘worthy of any mercy.’ We also condemn The Jerusalem Post for printing this unhinged, racist, and genocidal rant.

“President Trump should immediately remove Oliner from his seat on the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. It is unacceptable for anyone who believes that all children and everyone else in a population are ‘fundamentally evil’ and unworthy of mercy to hold a position with any organization, whether a private or public entity. It is exactly these types of racist, hate-filled views that lead to crimes against humanity, including the genocide in Gaza.”

Earlier today, CAIR applauded Belize for seeking to join South Africa’s case against Israel’s genocide in Gaza before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Last year, CAIR welcomed a detailed submission by South Africa to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) outlining evidence of Israel’s violation of the 1948 Genocide Convention in its war on Gaza.

Also last year, CAIR applauded the International Criminal Court (ICC) for issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza genocide.
