The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed a report confirming allegations of racist behavior at a Wisconsin high school track meet.
An internal investigation by the Waterford School District confirmed multiple instances of racially-charged comments and stereotypical behavior directed at athletes.
“We welcome the fact that the allegations of racist behavior were taken seriously and investigated appropriately,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Students of all backgrounds must be able to take part in activities without fear of bias-motivated harassment.”
Hooper added that earlier this month, CAIR condemned the distribution of white supremacist, neo-Nazi propaganda in Wisconsin.
He noted that CAIR has condemned similar distribution of hate materials in Wisconsin.
Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
