CAIR Condemns Israeli Massacre of Gaza Children Gathering Water

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned an Israeli massacre of children gathering water in Gaza.

At least eight people, six of them children, were killed and more than a dozen were wounded by Israeli forces as they tried to collect water on Sunday. Israel has already slaughtered more than 58,000 people – and possibly many more – mostly women and children, in Gaza using American taxpayer-supplied weapons. In just the past 24 hours, 139 bodies had been brought to Gaza hospitals.

Israel is currently waging a campaign of forced starvation in Gaza in which the population is denied food, water and other humanitarian needs.

In a statement, Washington, D.C., based CAIR said:

“We condemn this latest massacre of children desperately seeking water for their families as we have condemned the uncounted war crimes Israeli forces commit on a daily basis, all with the complicity of our own government and using American taxpayer-supplied weapons. The slaughter of children must stop. Israel’s campaign of forced starvation must stop. Its ethnic cleansing must stop. The genocide – and our government’s complicity with that genocide – must finally come to an end.”

Yesterday, CAIR called on all people of conscience to contact their members of Congress to demand that they condemn the murder of U.S. citizen Sayfollah (“Saif”) Musallet by illegal Israeli settlers, urge the Department of Justice to bring the perpetrators to justice and to demand that the Trump administration hold the Israeli government accountable for settler violence.

CAIR condemned illegal Israeli settlers backed and enabled by the Israeli government for beating Musallet to death in the illegally-occupied West Bank and called on President Trump to put America first by holding Israel accountable for the latest murder of a U.S. citizen.
