The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on President Trump to condemn and stop ongoing Israeli attacks on Syria.
Israeli forces struck Syrian military vehicles in southern Syria, where government forces sought to stop clashes between tribes and Druze militias.
In a statement, Washington, D.C., based CAIR said:
“The Trump administration’s efforts to give post-Assad Syria a chance to recover, reunite and rebuild cannot succeed if the Netanyahu regime can attack Syrian forces whenever they attempt to restore order on their own territory. President Trump and U.S. Special Envoy for Syria, Ambassador Barrack, must make it clear to Netanyahu that the United States will no longer tolerate his attempts to sow violent chaos and sectarian conflict in southern Syria using American weapons and American taxpayer dollars.”
Yesterday, CAIR condemned an Israeli massacre of children gathering water in Gaza.
Israel is currently waging a campaign of forced starvation in Gaza in which the population is denied food, water and other humanitarian needs.
Over the weekend, CAIR called on all people of conscience to contact their members of Congress to demand that they condemn the murder of U.S. citizen Sayfollah (“Saif”) Musallet by illegal Israeli settlers, urge the Department of Justice to bring the perpetrators to justice and to demand that the Trump administration hold the Israeli government accountable for settler violence.
CAIR condemned illegal Israeli settlers backed and enabled by the Israeli government for beating Musallet to death in the illegally-occupied West Bank and called on President Trump to put America first by holding Israel accountable for the latest murder of a U.S. citizen.
