(CHARLOTTE, NC., 9/18/25) – The North Carolina chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NC), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed an FBI investigation of a doll with a noose around its neck hanging above an election sign for Statesville, North Carolina, City Council representative Doris Allison.
According to news reports, the doll—positioned in a manner evoking a lynching—was discovered near Allison’s campaign sign. The FBI has confirmed it is working alongside local authorities to assess the situation.

In a statement, CAIR-NC Representative Al Rieder said:
“We strongly condemn this apparently bias-motivated act, which evokes America’s painful history of racial terror targeting Black political leaders. This disturbing incident reflects the broader rise in hate-fueled political rhetoric and acts of racial intimidation targeting marginalized communities nationwide.
“We welcome the FBI’s investigation and urge a thorough probe to identify and hold accountable those responsible. There must be zero tolerance for racist intimidation in our democratic process.”
Yesterday, CAIR supported calls for a thorough and transparent investigation of the death of Black student Demartravion “Trey” Reed, who was found hanging from a tree on the campus of Delta State University in Mississippi earlier this week.
Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
