CAIR-Florida Urges Immediate U.S. Intervention to Stop Blackmail of Mohamed Ibrahim by Israeli Officials and Secure His Release

CAIR and diverse coalition of Muslim civil rights and advocacy groups also release sections of Mohammed Ibrahim’s Sworn Statement Describing Torture and Starvation in Israeli Military Prison

(TAMPA, FL, 11/7/2025) – The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called for urgent U.S. intervention to ensure the immediate release of American child and U.S. citizen Mohammed Ibrahim, after Israeli military prosecutors reportedly threatened to keep him unjustly imprisoned for up to three more years unless Mohammed admits to a crime he did not commit and accepts two years in an Israeli military prison.

CAIR and CAIR-FL also today sent an email to members of Congress with Mohammed Ibrahim’s sworn statement that documents Israel’s torture of Mohammed, including beating Mohammed with rifle butts, using starvation against him, and denying him access to medical care since his abduction nearly nine months ago.

When asked about his interrogation, Mohammed said that a masked individual conducted the interrogation and that “…the interrogator threatened that if I did not comply, he would instruct the soldiers to beat me. Out of sheer fear, I ultimately confessed.”

Earlier today, CAIR-FL announced details of this weekend’s local events as part of the National Week of Action to demand the immediate and unconditional release of Mohammed Ibrahim.

Mohammed deserves to be safe at home with his parents and the community that loves and misses him dearly. Like so many young American kids, Mohammed loves cars and was excited to study for his learner’s permit this summer. Instead, he is being subjected to Israel’s abuse and the possibility of losing up to three years of his life in an Israeli military prison for a crime he did not commit.

CAIR and CAIR-Florida are urging the U.S. State Department, elected officials, faith leaders, and civil society organizations to speak out and pressure Israeli authorities to secure Mohammed’s immediate and safe release.

Community leaders, veterans, health care professionals, educators, and faith-based organizations are encouraged to join this nationwide campaign to defend the rights and dignity of an American child.

In a statement, CAIR’s Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw said: “For every day that Mohammed Ibrahim is unjustly imprisoned and abused by the Israeli military, we will continue to pressure our elected officials to demand his immediate release.”

The National Days of Action to Free Mohammed Ibrahim, running now through Saturday, Nov. 8, include vigils, rallies, online campaigns, phone banking, and letter-writing initiatives organized across the country. The effort will culminate in a National Day of Action on Saturday, Nov. 8, one day before Mohammed’s next court appearance in Israel. Rallies and local actions are planned throughout Florida — in Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando, Melbourne, and South Florida — to #BringMohammedHome.
