CAIR Welcomes Hate Crime Charge for Neo-Nazi Vandalism Targeting NC Jewish Community Center

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed a federal hate crime charge filed against a South Carolina man accused of defacing buildings at a Jewish community complex in Charlotte, North Carolina, with neo-Nazi and antisemitic messages.

According to media reports, federal authorities charged the suspect with a hate crime after he allegedly vandalized multiple buildings at the Jewish community center complex, including posting Nazi swastikas and other hateful symbols targeting the Jewish community.

In a statement, Washington, D.C.-based CAIR said:

“We welcome this hate crime charge and thank law enforcement authorities for pursuing accountability in this disturbing case. Acts of neo-Nazi antisemitic vandalism and intimidation are attacks not only on the Jewish community but on the values of religious freedom, equality, and human dignity that all Americans share. Those who seek to spread hatred through neo-Nazi ideology, white supremacy, antisemitism, and all other forms of bigotry must be confronted and rejected by people of all faiths and backgrounds.”

CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, anti-Muslim hate, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
