“There are Muslim youth in Philadelphia, and their voices deserve to be heard,” said Asiyah Jones, advocacy projects director for CAIR-Philadelphia. “We want to advance religious accommodations, increase access to halal foods, as well as protect Muslim students and educators.”
Jones said CAIR-Philadelphia regularly addresses complaints involving free-speech and religious-expression issues affecting Muslim students and teachers. She said both the organization and participating students would like to see more education and training aimed at helping institutions better understand the needs of Muslim residents.
