CAIR-SFBA: MORE THAN 600 ATTEND CAIR-SFBA THIRD ANNUAL FAMILY PICNIC
(SANTA CLARA, CA, 7/11/07) – More than 600 people turned out on July 8 for the Third Annual Family Picnic of the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA) at the Baylands Park in Sunnyvale.
Themed “Know the Issues: Prepare for 2008 Elections”, the event provided an opportunity for the American Muslim community to have some family fun while becoming educated about the key issues relevant to the 2008 presidential elections.
Representatives from various political parties presented the audience with their stance on vital government issues, especially those concerning the protection of minorities, civil liberties, diplomacy and foreign policies. Local public officials were also present.
CAIR-SFBA made available voter registration forms and encouraged people to become registered voters. The picnic also included fun and games, face-painting for children, lunch, and entertainment.
