Later today, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) plans to join state and national Muslim leaders for a news conference at the ICNA-MAS Convention that is currently taking place in Baltimore, Maryland, to respond to yesterday’s Israeli massacre of dozens of Palestinian civilians in a so-called Rafah “safe zone” in Gaza.

WHAT: News Conference of U.S. Muslim Leaders Responding to Israeli Massacre in Rafah ‘Safe Zone’
WHEN: Monday, May 27, 2 p.m. ET
WHERE: Outside the Baltimore Convention Center Pratt Street Entrance, One West Pratt Street Baltimore, Maryland 21201
CONTACT: CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell, 404-285-9530, e-Mitchell@cair.com; CAIR Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry, zchaudry@cair.com, 410-971-6062
In a statement, CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell, who plans to take part in the news conference, said:
“We plan to call on the Biden administration to end its complicity with the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza immediately. No more shifting red lines, no more for calls to Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to investigate itself, and no more military, financial or diplomatic support for this genocide. All Americans are being stained with the blood of innocent Palestinians by the Biden administration’s support for this slaughter. It must end. Now.”
“Enough is enough. If President Biden sends even one more missile to the Israeli government after seeing the apocalyptic footage of headless Palestinian children and civilians burned alive using U.S. bombs in a so-called Rafah safe zone, he will once again cross his own red line and every red line of U.S. law, international law and basic human decency.
Yesterday, CAIR condemned what it called a “U.S.-backed massacre” of at least 45 Palestinian civilians in an Israeli airstrike on Rafah in Gaza that hit tents for displaced people, burning many people alive. Horrific videos posted online show bodies burned to a crisp and a beheaded baby. WARNING: Graphic content. Some Israelis reportedly celebrated the massacre and mocked the victims, including the dead children.
Israel has slaughtered more than 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children. Some two million Palestinians have been forcibly displaced.
On Friday, CAIR applauded a ruling by the UN’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Hague ordering Israel to halt its attacks on Rafah in Gaza.
Earlier this year, CAIR expressed its support for South Africa’s request to the ICJ to adopt emergency measures to protect Palestinian civilians after the Israeli attack on Rafah and its threats of depopulation and further attack on the city.
In December of last year, CAIR welcomed the launch of a case by South Africa in the United Nations’ top court accusing Israel of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
This week, CAIR welcomed the recognition of the state of Palestine by Norway, Ireland and Spain, and called on the Biden administration to stop blocking that nation’s full United Nations membership.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
