Members of Congress must also demand Trump administration hold Israel accountable for government-backed settler violence.
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 7/12/2025) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on all people of conscience to contact their members of Congress to demand that they condemn the murder of U.S. citizen Sayfollah (“Saif”) Musallet by illegal Israeli settlers, urge the Department of Justice to bring the perpetrators to justice and to demand that the Trump administration hold the Israeli government accountable for settler violence.
CAIR’s Action Alert states in part:
“This was not an isolated incident. It was part of a long, unpunished pattern of violence against U.S. citizens by Israeli soldiers and settlers. Americans like journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, peace activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, 80-year-old Omar Assad, 14-year-old Omar Mohammad Rabea, and human rights defender Rachel Corrie were also killed. In each case, the U.S. government failed to hold anyone accountable. That must end now.
“Congress must act. CAIR urges lawmakers to:
- Publicly condemn the murder of Sayfollah Musallet by illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.
- Press the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate and prosecute those responsible for killing U.S. citizens abroad—including Musallet, Shireen Abu Akleh, Omar Assad, Rachel Corrie, and others.
- Demand that the Trump administration stop shielding Israel from accountability and hold the Israeli government responsible for enabling and escalating settler violence.”
TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION: Demand That Congress Condemn Israeli Killing of American, DOJ Prosecute Those Responsible, Trump Admin Hold Israel Accountable
Yesterday, CAIR condemned illegal Israeli settlers backed and enabled by the Israeli government for beating Musallet to death in the illegally-occupied West Bank and called on President Trump to put America first by holding Israel accountable for the latest murder of a U.S. citizen.

Earlier this year, CAIR sent a letter to the Justice Department calling on it to prosecute Israel’s murder of American citizens, including journalist Shireen Abu Akleh. The DOJ responding by incorrectly claiming that it did not have jurisdiction to prosecute the murder of Americans overseas.
Israeli forces and illegal settlers have killed a number of U.S. citizens, including Abu Akleh, peace activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, 80-year-old Omar Assad, 14-year-old Omar Mohammad Rabea, Rachel Corrie, and others.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
