(AUSTIN, TX, 1/25/17) — On Saturday, January 27th, the Austin chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Austin) will host an “Open Mic Night” on the anniversary of the first Trump administration Muslim Ban executive order that barred refugees and individuals from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States.
This event, held in support of the National Day of Action, will offer attendees an opportunity to express their thoughts on a variety of issues related to the impact of the Muslim Ban, current challenges faced by marginalized communities and what it means to be an American.
Attendees are encouraged to share personal stories, along with selections of poetry, prose and songs under the theme of “We are All America.” Those wishing to participate may also visit the event page.
