(SAN DIEGO, CA, 5/13/08) – On Wednesday, May 7, a representative of the San Diego chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-San Diego) and other San Diego Muslims joined members of Congregation Beth El for the seventh in a series of interfaith dialogues intended to foster constructive dialogue between Jewish and Muslim groups.
CAIR-San Diego Public Relations Director Edgar Hopida has participated in all seven dialogues. Topics discussed Wednesday included classical Jewish and Islamic law in relation to contemporary issues and scriptural readings in prayer. The dialogue was concluded with a tour of Congregation Beth El’s new sanctuary.
CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
