CAIR Calls on Biden Admin to Speak Out After Illegal Israeli Settlers Poison Palestinian Livestock

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on the Biden administration to speak out after illegal Israeli settlers in the West Bank reportedly poisoned Palestinian livestock.

Palestinian said Israeli settlers poisoned 50 of his sheep in Arab al-Melahat community near Jericho. A report published by the International Crisis Group said settler violence against Palestinians has reached an all-time high. In the past 11 months, there were 1,264 settler attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank, resulting in 21 Palestinian deaths and 643 injuries.

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:

“The constant attacks on Palestinian civilians and their property by illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank – often under the protection of the Israeli military – are just part of the systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing by the far-right Netanyahu government. The Biden administration must speak out against these attempts to force the Palestinian people off their land.”

Yesterday, CAIR said the international community and Muslim-majority nations in particular must take action to ensure the protection of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites, after an Israeli extremist organization threatened to destroy it.

Earlier this week, CAIR said “the world must not become numb to Israeli war crimes” after a new massacre at a U.N. school in Gaza.
