The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on the Trump administration to “join the world community in calling for an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza” after U.N. member nations voted overwhelmingly in favor a resolution to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all captives and unrestricted delivery of food to Palestinian civilians under an Israeli-imposed campaign of starvation.
The UN General Assembly voted 149-12 – with 19 abstentions – to adopt the resolution, which “strongly condemns any use of starvation of civilians as a method of warfare.” It was opposed by the United States, Israel and a handful of other nations.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“As this overwhelming vote by United Nations member states demonstrates, it is time for our government to join the world community in finally calling for an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Our government’s complicity with and blind support for Israel’s ongoing campaign of forced starvation, ethnic cleansing, mass destruction, and slaughter is creating a lasting stain on our nation’s reputation worldwide.”
Last night, CAIR condemned Israel’s unilateral offensive strikes on Iran and called on the Trump administration to immediately halt all U.S. weapons transfers and military aid to the Netanyahu government.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
