The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the reported execution of an elderly Palestinian man in Gaza by an Israeli officer who bragged in a video posted online that the killing “was fantastic.”
Al Jazeera obtained exclusive bodycam video of the alleged execution dated Nov. 6.
CAIR also condemned the latest Israeli massacre of Palestinian civilians, this time at least 13 Palestinians were killed the Nuseirat refugee camp after a home was destroyed. At least 82 Palestinians have been killed in the past 24 hours, with almost 31,000 – mostly women and children – killed since Oct. 7.
“As the forces of the far-right Israeli government brag to each other about the execution of an elderly Palestinian, the Biden administration offers only piecemeal aid increases and softened rhetoric while allowing the genocide, forced starvation and ethnic cleansing to continue on camera aided and abetted by U.S. support,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “This must end.”
Awad added: “These war crimes must be condemned and not normalized. The Biden administration is greenlighting these crimes every day by not calling for a permanent ceasefire.”
Last week, CAIR condemned the reported deliberate destruction of a mosque minaret in Gaza by “bored” Israeli soldiers.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
