CAIR Condemns Israel for Massacring 29 in Bombing of Residential Building, Urges International Action

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the Israeli government’s latest massacre of civilians in Gaza after its fighters bombed a residential building, killing at least 29 men, women and children and leaving 80 people missing under the rubble.

In a statement, CAIR said:

“Let’s be clear: this openly racist and genocidal Israeli government is not accidentally killing civilians. It is and has been intentionally, systematically and openly slaughtering children, medical workers, journalists, and other civilians while starving everyone in Gaza.

“This is genocide, pure and simple, and the Israeli government proves each day that it has no intention of stopping. The international community, especially the United States and surrounding Arab Muslim nations, must take action to force the indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a comprehensive, permanent ceasefire that immediately ends the genocide and frees all captives and political prisoners.”

He noted that at least 60,000 children in the Gaza Strip are “at risk of serious health complications due to malnutrition” as food supplies dwindle amid Israel’s blockade of aid, according to the enclave’s Ministry of Health.

Yesterday, CAIR welcomed a statement from the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention condemning Israel, the U.S., Canada, and Europe for perpetrating genocide in Gaza, as United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today said that Gaza has become “a killing field.”
