CAIR Condemns Killing of 78 in Drone Strike on Sudan Mosque

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the killing of 78 worshipers in a drone strike on a mosque in Sudan’s Darfur region reportedly conducted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The drone strike hit a mosque in the city of El-Fasher, where RSF paramilitaries are gaining ground as they fight to seize complete control of the area.

“Bombing a house of worship is a deeply evil war crime that must be condemned by all nations,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “The RSF and those who support them in their atrocities must be stopped and prosecuted for their crimes.”

In July, CAIR called on the State Department to condemn a reported massacre of villagers by the RSF and repeated its demand that the militia never receive U.S. recognition.
