CAIR Condemns Racist Graffiti Targeting Homes, Cars in Alabama

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 8/28/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned racist graffiti targeting homes in Montgomery, Ala.  

Montgomery police responded on Saturday to calls about shattered windows and racist graffiti including Nazi swastikas and racial slurs on houses and cars. Police are investigating the incident as a hate crime.

“Communities in Alabama and nationwide must repudiate the hatred that inspired this disturbing incident,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “We thank law enforcement for taking this case seriously and hope the perpetrators can be brought to justice.” 

He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
