The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned a march by the white supremacist group Patriot Front in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday.
Masked members of that group marched while chanting phrases like “Reclaim America” and “One Nation Against Invasion.” The group reportedly posted a message online stating: “Activists are currently demonstrating in Des Moines, Iowa in protest to the mass migration of unassimilable foreigners who have invaded America.”
“We join all those who seek a society based on justice and mutual respect in condemning any efforts to promote racist hate and white supremacy,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “While even bigots have free speech rights, the majority of Americans also have the right and duty to repudiate hatred and division.”
He noted that CAIR recently welcomed the sentencing of a man who posted racist flyers on the homes and businesses of Hispanic people in Hampton, Iowa, and condemned vandalism targeting Hispanic businesses in Muscatine, Iowa.

CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
