(JACKSONVILLE, FL, 8/28/2008) – On September 6, the Jacksonville, Fla., chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Jacksonville) and the Islamic Center of Northeast Florida will host a “Sharing Ramadan” open house to familiarize community members of all faiths with the month-long Islamic fast.

“Sharing Ramadan” is an annual event hosted by the Jacksonville Muslim community to break the daily Ramadan fast and to share experiences with their colleagues and neighbors in the First Coast. Past event have attracted up to 500 people of all faiths and backgrounds.
Keynote speakers for this year’s event are Ambassador Nancy Soderberg, the former U.S.
ambassador to the U.N., and Charlene Taylor Hill, the executive director of the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission.
CAIR, America’s largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
