(SOUTHFIELD, MI, 6/2/08) – The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) recently co-sponsored a political education forum at the Islamic Organization of North America in Warren, Mich. CAIR-MI also conducted a voter registration drive as part of the political awareness forum.
Panel discussions at the forum covered topics including “Increasing Muslim Community Engagement in the Public Arena” and “Building the Muslim community Voice for Better Government.”
Michigan State Representative Fred Miller (D-Mt Clemens) presented information on the importance of establishing communication with elected officials and the most effective means to do so.
Other sponsors of the event include American Muslim Political Education Committee (AMPEC), Council of Islamic Organizations of Michigan (CIOM) and Muslim Community Political Action Committee (MC PAC).
