(SOUTHFIELD, MI, 11/15/07) – A representative of the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) yesterday participated in a panel discussion entitled “Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism” at Michigan State University in East Lansing.
The panel, which was organized by the Peace Over Prejudice Campaign, covered several historical and contemporary similarities between Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism in America and Europe.
Panelists for the event included Dr. Kenneth Waltzer, Professor of History and Jewish Studies at Michigan State University, and CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid.
“We look forward to such opportunities in which we can articulate the mutual concerns the Muslim community and the Jewish community share in promoting justice and combating bigotry,” said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid.
