CAIR-NJ, CAIR-PA Give Presentation on Islam for NAACP-NJ

(PRINCETON, NJ, 11/9/07) – The New Jersey and Pennsylvania chapters of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ and CAIR-PA) yesterday gave a presentation on Islam for the membership of the New Jersey chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP-NJ).
“We hope that this will be the first of many such meetings between NAACP and CAIR chapters so that we can learn about each other and work together to achieve our common objective of promoting equality and justice,” said CAIR-NJ Community Relations Director Afsheen Shamsi.
“I really enjoyed the presentation,” said NAACP-NJ President Reginald Johnson. “It cleared a lot of misconceptions about Islam and demonstrated that we have a lot in common.”
