CAIR-NY, Wahed Invest LLC Partner to Launch ‘Eid Mubarak’ Ad in Times Square

(NEW YORK, NY, 8/30/17) — On Friday, September 1, the New York chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), a leading Muslim civil rights organization, and Wahed Invest LLC., a shariah-compliant investment platform, will partner to launch an Eid holiday greeting on the landmark NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square.

The ad’s message will mark the beginning of the Islamic holiday of Eid ul-Adha (EED-al-ODD-ha) — or “festival of the sacrifice” — which celebrates the end of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, with a traditional Eid greeting and a message of inclusion: “Eid Mubarak. 1st Generation or 10th, we are all New York.”

Eid ul-Adha, commonly referred to as just “Eid,” is celebrated with the prayers, small gifts for children, distribution of meat to the needy, and social gatherings. During this holiday, Muslims exchange the greeting “Eid Mubarak” or “blessed Eid.”
