(TULSA, OK, 11/12/07) – More than 140 people turned out on Saturday for the first annual fundraising banquet of CAIR’s Oklahoma chapter (CAIR-OK) in Tulsa.
Guest speakers included CAIR National Chapter Development Director Yaser Tabbara and CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab.
CAIR-OK Executive Director Razi Hashmi said: “We need to create and cultivate positive communal characteristics of Muslims in America, so that people will know us as contributors to the betterment of American society.”
CAIR-OK raised more than $50,000 to help build a strong institution in Oklahoma.
CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 33 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
