(PHILADELPHIA, PA, 11/15/07) – The Pennsylvania chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-PA) recently presented a workshop, called “Introduction to Islam and Islamophobia,” to the Interfaith Dialog Group at Shir Ami Synagogue in Newtown.
Some 30 adults and students attended the workshop, which was presented by CAIR-PA Board Chair Iftekhar Hussain. The Interfaith Dialog Group, which organized the presentation, is dedicated to fostering a better understanding and appreciation of the various faiths in the community. The question and answer session with the participants lasted more than two hours.
CAIR, America’s largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 33 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
