(WASHINGTON, D.C., 9/29/2017) — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today released two short videos exposing the anti-Muslim hate group ACT for America’s bigotry and its links to White supremacist organizations.
[NOTE: ACT FOR America is holding its national conference on October 1-3 in Arlington, Va. Some Member of Congress are believed to be confirmed to attend or address the hate group.]
CAIR’s videos show ACT for America being allied with many of the same white supremacist groups and exhibiting the same bigoted themes as seen at the Charlottesville “Unite the Right” racist rally.
An article published today in Salon stated in part:
“ACT for America provides a glimpse into a world of racist, right-wing paranoia that is often a bit hidden from liberals, particularly those who live in deep blue urban areas. The grim reality is that even though Muslims are only about 1 percent of the U.S. population, and the vast majority of them are ordinary people living their lives, a huge proportion of conservative America has convinced itself that the country is on the verge of a ”˜sharia’ takeover. They believe this because groups like ACT for America have stoked this fear through right-wing media and, of course, the active urban-legend networks that shape so much of the conservative worldview.”
CAIR recently called the cancellation of a nationwide series of hate rallies previously scheduled for September 9 a “victory over white supremacy and Islamophobia.”
In response to the recent spike in hate crimes targeting minorities, CAIR launched an app to share critical “know your rights” information and to simplify the process to report hate crimes and bias incidents. CAIR is urging American Muslims and members of other minority groups to download the app and utilize this resource to stay informed and empowered.
