CAIR Repeats Call for Biden Admin Arms Embargo on Israel After Hundreds Massacred in Lebanon, Israel Plans Gaza ‘Extermination Zone’

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today repeated its call for the Biden administration to impose an arms embargo on Israel as that nation’s far-right government launched attacks on Lebanon using American weapons that have already killed hundreds, including many women and children.

Israel killed at least 356 people, including 24 children, 39 women and two medical personnel in its attacks on Lebanon.

CAIR also said the arms embargo was necessary immediately because of a proposed Israeli “extermination zone” in Gaza in which every remaining human being would be starved to death or targeted by U.S. weapons. CNN Reports: “Those who leave will receive food and water,” Giora Eiland, a retired Israeli military general who is spearheading the proposal, says in a slickly produced video posted online earlier this month. “But in a week the entire territory of the northern Gaza Strip will become military territory, and this military territory as far as we are concerned, no supplies will enter it.”

In a statement, CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:

“An immediate arms embargo on the far-right Israeli government is urgently needed to stop American weapons, paid for by our nation’s taxpayers, from being used in the latest slaughter in Lebanon or in the ongoing genocide in Gaza, which apparently now includes an ‘extermination zone’ in which all living beings will be subject to killing.”

Over the weekend, CAIR called on President Biden to take action to rein in the “out-of-control” far-right government of Benjamin Netanyahu after Israel again slaughtered Palestinian children in Gaza.

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has already resulted in the killing of at least 41,272 Palestinians, including 16,795 children and 11,378 women. Most Gazans have been forced from their homes, which were then destroyed in a Israeli campaign of mass destruction and ethnic cleansing.
