(SACRAMENTO, CA, 5/26/2023) – The Sacramento Valley/Central California office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SV/CC), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned racist anti-Asian hate targeting a Thai restaurant in Fresno, Calif.
The restaurant was allegedly targeted with a wave of racist remarks and false accusations online last week. They have also reportedly received threats, which police are investigating. The restaurant is temporarily closed, and the owners will reportedly announce whether they plan to reopen.

“The racist targeting of this restaurant should be condemned by all members of the Fresno community and should be repudiated strongly by public officials,” said CAIR-SV/CC Senior Civil Rights Attorney Layli Shirani. “We stand in solidarity with the Asian-American community against growing hatred and bigotry.”
She said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
