CAIR Says Holocaust Remembrance Day is a Reminder of the Evil of Bigotry and Injustice

CAIR National logo(WASHINGTON, D.C., 4/24/17) – The Council on American-Islamic-Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, said today’s annual Holocaust Remembrance Day should serve as a reminder of the evil of bigotry and injustice.

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:

“On this Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah), we are reminded that the evil that inspired the tragic murder of six million Jews and millions of other innocents during World War II is alive today in the form of growing bigotry targeting minority groups in this country and worldwide.

“This day marks the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising against the Nazis, and it should also remind us of the never-ending struggle against injustice and oppression.”

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

La misión de CAIR es mejorar la comprensión del Islam, fomentar el diálogo, proteger las libertades civiles, capacitar a los musulmanes estadounidenses, y construir coaliciones que promuevan la justicia y la comprensión mutua.
