The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today said that President Biden and many members of Congress have “passed the moral point of no return” by unconditionally providing $17 billion to the Israeli government despite its relentless campaign of genocide that has killed over 34,000 Palestinians, as well as aid workers from around the world, including World Central Kitchen.

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“The Biden administration has now passed the moral point of no return. By signing legislation that gives Benjamin Netanyahu another $17 billion blank check for his genocide, President Biden has betrayed the soul of our nation and disregarded the will of the American people, who overwhelmingly support a ceasefire and oppose unconditional aid to Israel.
“Over the past six months, the Israeli government has slaughtered and starved at least 34,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and killed numerous other people, including an American aid worker from World Central Kitchen. Giving the Israeli government billions more in weaponry despite all of those war crimes is unconscionable. The American people, including American Muslims, will never forget this dark day and never forgive the Biden administration and so many members of Congress for making our nation complicit in a genocide.”
“Americans of all faiths and backgrounds must now raise our voices even more loudly and redouble our efforts to secure a ceasefire, full access to humanitarian aid, and concrete steps to end the occupation that has trigged cycles of violence for generations. This must end once and for all, here and now.”
CAIR noted that next Monday is scheduled to mark the start of the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO) 9th Annual National Muslim Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill. During this advocacy day event, more than 500 registered Muslim delegates from over 20 states will be advocating to Congress for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and the protection of students’ free speech rights to protest in support of Palestinian human rights. CAIR urges all eligible members of the American Muslim community to register and take part in this advocacy event.
For the past several months, CAIR and other Palestinian human rights advocacy groups and leaders have called on lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives, the Senate, and on President Biden, to no longer financially or politically support Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza or oppressive and deadly actions in the West Bank.
Yesterday, CAIR called on the Biden Administration to respond to a recent State Department report detailing “credible reports” of Israel being responsible for more than a dozen types of anti-Palestinian human rights abuses, including extrajudicial killings, torture, arbitrary detention, conflict-related sexual violence, and the punishment of family members for alleged offenses by a relative.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
