The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said new data from a United Nations committee showing that Israel has wounded more than 40,000 children in Gaza — resulting in at least 21,000 children being permanently disabled — is the latest proof the Trump administration and members of Congress are supporting the “maiming and murdering of children” by funding and enabling the genocide in Gaza.

The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities noted: “Reports also described people with disabilities being forced to flee in unsafe and undignified conditions, such as crawling through sand or mud without mobility assistance.”
Israeli terror forces have slaughtered more than 63,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children. Even Israeli data shows that 83 percent of those slaughtered were civilians.
In a statement, Washington, D.C., based CAIR said:
“The horrifying new UN data makes painfully clear what we have seen on a daily basis: the Israeli government is systematically maiming and murdering Palestinian children with the backing of our government and members of Congress.
“More than 21,000 children permanently disabled, tens of thousands more wounded, and over 63,000 civilians killed — mostly women and children — is not the result of a defensive war. It is the result of a systematic, deliberate policy of extermination.
“Under the Biden administration and now the Trump administration, our government has not only failed to stop these atrocities; it has actively enabled them through massive weapons shipments and consistent diplomatic cover. Our government is responsible, pure and simple.
“This is an abject failure of Western leaders to stop Israel’s U.S.-backed genocide. Each day of continued inaction deepens the complicity of those who fund and protect Israel’s crimes.
“We call on all Americans of conscience to continue vocally demanding that the Trump administration and Congress change course, demand an immediate end to the genocide, and end our nation’s support for the maiming and murdering of children.”
“History will not forget the children whose lives were destroyed — nor those who stood by and allowed it to happen.”
Yesterday, CAIR called on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and other members of Congress who claim to support human rights to stop denying the Gaza genocide and support an arms embargo on the Israeli government after the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) overwhelmingly passed a resolution declaring that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
CAIR recently called on Congress to “pick America over AIPAC” in response to a Quinnipiac poll showing that 50 percent of voters recognize that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, six in 10 voters (60 percent) oppose sending military aid to Israel, and an equal number of voters now express sympathy for Palestinians and Israelis (37 percent to 36 percent).
Over the weekend, CAIR said that a newly-reported secret Trump administration proposal for a U.S.-Israeli takeover of Gaza and the theft of Palestinian land through a digital tokenization scheme “would amount to a war crime of historic proportions that would spark generations of conflict and forever stain America’s legacy.”
