CAIR to Host 2018 Maryland Gubernatorial Debate Watch Party

(BALTIMORE, MD, 9/24/18) – Later today, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, will host a debate watch party at its Baltimore-area office for the first Maryland gubernatorial debate.

CAIR is a non-partisan, 501c3 non-profit organization that does not favor any party or candidate. Earlier this month, the civil rights organization’s office in Maryland launched a statewide ”˜Get Out the Vote’ campaign to promote civic participation and boost voter turnout in the state’s 2018 midterm election.

CAIR’s 2018 Maryland GOTV campaign strategy consist of four elements:

  • Organizing voter registration drives at mosques across the state  
  • Compiling the first statewide voter guide of its kind produced by a Muslim organization for distribution in Fall 2018
  • Coordinating phone banking 
  • Offering free workshops on civic and political engagement  

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
