(WASHINGTON, D.C., 6/23/16) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed hate crime charges for an alleged assault on a Maryland Muslim mother and daughter.
Kerlina Aviles, 27, was charged with two hate crime counts on Tuesday and was later released on $5,000 bond. According to police records, Ailes sprayed a liquid on the Muslim women and yelled: “Get the hell out of the country you b—-a– Muslims!â€
Last week, CAIR called on state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate the alleged assault as a hate crime.
