CAIR Welcomes Prison Sentences for Delaware White Supremacists

(WASHINGTON D.C., 11/2/2021) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed prison sentences for two suspected Delaware members of a violent white supremacist organization.

Last Friday, the two men were sentenced to 9 years each in federal prison on charges including illegally transporting firearms and harboring illegal aliens with intent to ignite civil war. A third co-defendant pleaded guilty in December for helping one of the two men enter the country illegally from Canada. The men are suspected members of The Base, a violent white supremacist and neo-Nazi organization. The FBI reportedly discovered audio and video evidence from the defendants’ Delaware residence revealing they had been planning to commit violence weeks before a gun rally in Richmond, Virginia back in January.

“White supremacist violence poses a serious threat to minority communities and to the security of our nation,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “We welcome the sentences in this case and hope the prospect of long prison terms will deter anyone considering turning their bigoted views into violent actions.”

Hooper said the American Muslim community and CAIR stand in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, white supremacy and all other forms of bigotry.
