(WASHINGTON, D.C., 3/5/08) – CAIR was honored yesterday to host a delegation of Muslims from the People’s Republic of China currently touring the United States to learn about the American Muslim experience and the role of religion in our society.
The Chinese delegation, which met with CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad, included researchers, religious leaders and academics. They discussed CAIR’s initiatives and the role of religious minorities in nations like the United States and China.
CAIR, America’s largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
