CAIR Calls for Hate Crime Probe of Cross Burned Into Lawn of New York Mosque

WATERPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) – Orleans County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after someone burned a cross into the front lawn of a mosque around 9 p.m. Thursday night.

CAIR is calling for a hate crime investigation by local police and the FBI.

“These types of apparently bias-motivated incidents must be investigated thoroughly by law enforcement authorities and repudiated strongly by public and religious leaders,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.
