(WASHINGTON D.C., 6/22/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned reported racist vandalism targeting a business in Indiana.
An Angola, Ind., business owner says she walked into her business to find racist slurs on the floors, walls and shelves. She now says she will move her business because of the vandalism. The Angola City Police Department is investigating the vandalism.

“No American should be forced to move because of racist intimidation or harassment,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Political and religious leaders must speak out against this type of racist hate, which is unfortunately growing nationwide.”
Earlier today, CAIR condemned a racist sign targeting the Juneteenth national holiday put up in the window of a Maine business.
Hooper noted that on Sunday, CAIR condemned a protest by a white supremacist group targeting a Juneteenth celebration in Tennessee.
He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
