(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/15/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today expressed support for a bill proposed by Nevada lawmakers to remove racist language in housing covenants.
Senate Bill 368, proposed by State Sen. Dallas Harris, would allow for the removal of unconstitutional and unenforceable racist provisions and language from housing covenants in the state.

“We welcome this effort to remove racist, discriminatory provisions from housing documents and support any efforts to challenge and expunge the legacy of racism and white supremacy in our nation,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.
He noted that CAIR previously supported similar measures removing racist language in Kansas, Idaho, Alabama, Virginia, and Wyoming.
