CAIR Condemns March by Armed Neo-Nazis in Indiana

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned a march by armed neo-Nazis in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Video posted on social media shows masked marchers wearing all black and carrying flags with Nazi swastikas. Some marchers also reportedly carried firearms.

Rep. André Carson (D-I) wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

“Hate has no place in Indianapolis. Nazis marching in our city is dangerous. We must stand united against extremism that endangers our community and democracy— including against racist redistricting that threatens to silence Hoosier voices.”

In a statement, CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper said:

“This appalling demonstration of hate and intimidation must be unequivocally condemned by all Americans, regardless of political affiliation.

“We commend Rep. André Carson and other leaders who have spoken out against this display of neo-Nazi hate. As we face a rising tide of bigotry and white supremacist violence nationwide, it is critical that law enforcement, elected officials and communities come together to reject the normalization of hate and protect the safety and rights of all Americans.”

Hooper noted that Last week, CAIR condemned the distribution of antisemitic hate propaganda in North Carolina.

He added that earlier this month, CAIR condemned a recent neo-Nazi march in Concord, New Hampshire, and its Ohio chapter condemned both the distribution of racist propaganda in Cincinnati and a white supremacist rally planned in Brown County, Ohio.

CAIR recently condemned neo-Nazi vandalism targeting a Jewish museum in Oregon, racist vandalism in Tennessee and an alleged racist stabbing in Illinois.

Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
