The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, is calling on Americans of all faiths and backgrounds to urge their members of Congress to oppose President Donald Trump’s internationally illegal proposal to authorize the use of U.S. troops to forcibly occupy, “take over,” and “own” the Gaza Strip, as he suggested during a recent press conference with wanted war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
CAIR’s easy-to-use click-and-send action alert is urging every U.S. House and Senate office to release the strongest possible statements making it clear that the United States should reject any plan involving ethnic cleansing or the permanent subjugation of Palestinians in Gaza, by our military or Israel’s.

With enough public pressure, CAIR believes that Congress can help ensure America does not become complicit in further injustice, murder, or ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza.
Yesterday, CAIR said “Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people” after President Trump said the “U.S. will take over The Gaza Strip” and “own it.”
President Trump’s remarks follow his previous suggestion of expelling millions of Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring Egypt or Jordan. CAIR also condemned that proposal as “delusional and dangerous nonsense.” CAIR believes this extremist rhetoric undermines international law, threatens regional stability, and attacks the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, who have lived in Gaza for thousands of years.
Last year, CAIR welcomed South Africa’s submission to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) outlining Israel’s alleged violations of the 1948 Genocide Convention in its military actions against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
CAIR also applauded the International Criminal Court (ICC) for issuing arrest warrants for Israeli officials—including Prime Minister Netanyahu—for what the ICC deems crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza. These international efforts reflect growing recognition of the gravity of ongoing human rights abuses.
