Representatives of the Austin Police Department will be on hand to provide information on improving safety for both persons and property, as well as to answer questions from community members.
“We hope this workshop will play a role in giving the Muslim community some peace of mind while the perpetrator remains at large,” said CAIR-Austin Executive Director Maira Sheikh. “A window or a door may be replaced, but as these incidents continue to occur, it is increasingly difficult to avoid the sense of unease growing among Austin Muslims who feel their community is being targeted.”
The Washington-based civil rights organization has reported an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president.
