(DENVER, CO, 9/17/19) – The Colorado chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Colorado), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the Douglas County, Colo., Republican Party for sharing an Islamophobic post on Facebook.
Last week, the Douglas County GOP shared a post with an image of the burning World Trade Center and the statement, “Every time a Moslem (sic) stands up in Congress and tells us they will change the Constitution, impeach our President, or vote for Socialism, remember you said you would never forget. They said they would destroy us from within.”

“Public officials and political parties should advocate inclusion of minority communities and avoid the divisive rhetoric that is all too common nationwide,” said CAIR-Colorado Acting Board Chair Krista Cole. “We urge Colorado Republican party officials to repudiate Islamophobia and all other forms of bigotry.”
Last week, CAIR-CO called for an apology from Colorado Senator Vicki Marble who liked the same anti-Muslim post but shared from a different account.
